I only had the Garmin Nuvi 660 for a short time before writing the review, but I have to say that it is the best GPS I have ever tried. It got many features which make it stand out and worth loving. The bright 4.3-inch widescreen display is amazing and remains clear even when under the sun. The Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS device was quickly installed and ready to be tested. The Nuvi 660 got a thin and sleek design with a stylish silver color. It is less than one inch thick. Even if you are not used to the Garmin interface you will appreciate it for its simplicity and ease of use. And with the integrated TMC traffic receiver you will be aware of all the traffic issues which you can now avoid with the smart Nuvi 660 doing the navigating. The Garmin Nuvi 660 is a great choice for a complete navigation package which you won't regret.

Garmin is a respected brand for GPS devices. On the right side you will find ports to plug for a SD card, stereo jack and mini USB. A foldable antenna which covers a docking port is placed on the back side of the unit. The Garmin Nuvi 660 includes features such as hands free calling, FM transmissions for MP3 files and traffic alerts. It only takes a few minutes to install it on the windshield. When starting the vehicle the Nuvi 660 turns on, and displays a message, warning us to keep our eyes on the road.

The Nuvi 660 Strong Points

  • The Nuvi 660 starts in about two minutes if you didn't use it for some time since it retrieves the information from GPS satellites.
  • With the large screen you will find that the maps are very readable and the font is set to an appropriate size. You can choose if details such as key street names should be displayed or not.
  • You can also switch between a 3D and a 2D mode.
  • The Garmin interface works out really well. The map is clear and important information such as the next turn or crossing are clearly displayed at the top.
  • You enter the route in a classic way by entering the state, city, street, house number etc. The directions are generally better than competing products.
  • The traffic info works out well and the Nuvi 660 was good at informing me about traffic jams.
  • The Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS got a good database with POI (points of interests). While you probably won't use it that often, it is a good feature to have. You can also add your own locations in the favorites list.

The Garmin Nuvi 660 was designed to be more than a GPS device. It offers multimedia features such as MP3 playback and a picture viewer. There are also optional modules such as currency converters, travel and location guides and language guides. It is also able to serve as a hands free unit for your bluetooth phone.
